Quotes

"There are signs that they hope to buy more Black Hawk helicopters down the road or take some returning from Afghanistan and repurpose them for the job, aircraft that cost twice as much to maintain and operate."
O'Keefe said the Army's decision to wind down the Lakota program "also puts at risk the option of a Lakota variant as the next-generation Armed Aerial Scout."
"At the end of the day, we all support local hiring. ... All of us have the same goal. It's just a matter of how we're going to get there."
The Army has tested a bunch of helicopters including the Lakota to see if they could meet its new scout chopper needs, Phillips told Wicker. "We didn't find a single aircraft that was out there that could meet the Army's requirements, he said. Wicker had a hard time accepting this assessment, and with billions at stake, I have a feeling he will continue to push a Lakota scout chopper on the Army, even though its not ready for combat. No wonder the Defense Department is going bust."
