"We know there are countless examples of individuals who have used Open Access research to accelerate science but these stories often go untold. Through this program, we hope to bring them to the forefront."
The programme promises to provide "a full suite of financial benefits and career development and placement support to 15 students from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups entering academic studies in archival science, special collections librarianship, or similar graduate programmes"
In the statement, Shulenburger says: "To assure that resulting plans serve scholarship well, it is critically important that we provide input to federal agencies while they are considering what to propose to the White House, as well as during the Director’s approval process. We must help ensure that agency plans are efficient and effective, and that they meet the needs of the academy, the Government, and the public."
