Education: He graduated from Midland Dow High School. He earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in 1975 from Albion College in Albion, Michigan, He graduated with a J.D. from the University of San Diego in 1978.
CV: Dave Camp represents the people of the 4th Congressional District of Michigan. He was first elected to Congress in 1990. Camp sits on the House Ways and Means Committee and is a member of its Health, Human Resources and Select Revenue Measures subcommittees. This year, Camp was selected to Chair the Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee, which serves as the chief subcommittee on tax policy. A member of the House Republican leadership team, Camp serves as a deputy majority whip to help ensure the Republicans’ agenda is passed. Camp is a member of the Steering Committee, which determines the chairmanship and membership of House committees. As an attorney in private practice before his first election, Camp worked extensively with parents and children in the foster care system. Before his appointment to the Ways and Means Committee in 1994, Camp served on the House Agriculture Committee. Before his election to Congress, he served one term as a state representative in the Michigan Legislature.
Awards: He received national recognition for his work in 1998 when the American Farm Bureau Federation honored him with its "Golden Plow" award. The prestigious award is presented annually to one U.S. representative and one U.S. senator for their distinguished agriculture leadership.
