Massimo Lucchesini has been General Manager of Operations of
Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A. Mr.
Lucchesini served as Chief Executive Officer of
Alenia Aermacchi at
Finmeccanica SpA. Mr.
Lucchesini served as General Manager of
Alenia Aermacchi S.p.A (also known as
AleniaAermacchi SpA) since February 2005 and its Chief Operating Officer since 2005. He served as Co-Chief Operating Officer of
Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A since July 2010 and served as its Co-General Manager. As ... a reserve officer in the Italian Air Force engineering branch, in 1972-73, he worked on the San Marco satellite launcher project. He spent three years with Oto Melara/Breda as missile systems engineer and head of missile programs. He joined Alenia Aermacchi in 1976 as Head of the structural dynamics department, working on the development and certification of the MB-339 advanced trainer. As Director of the Aircraft Technologies Department at Aermacchi, his next task was the design of the AMX attack aircraft in collaboration with Alenia and Embraer. As Director of Research and Development and Technical Director at Aermacchi, Mr. Lucchesini initially studied and evaluated various co-operative programmes with Dassault, Dornier and MBB. In 1990 he was appointed Director of Engineering and Prototype Manufacturing. In this capacity, he oversaw the co-operation with Lockheed to develop the MB-339 for the US J-PATS requirement and with Yakovlev for the Yak/Aem-130 programme. In 1985, he launched feasibility studies and preliminary designs for future fourth and fifth generation FBW trainers, undertaken with Dassault, EADS and Dornier and in 1992, he launched a collaboration with Yak/Sokol for the Yak/Aermacchi 130 techonlogical demonstrator. With the decision to launch the M-346 new generation integrated training system, he became head of the autonomous business unit created to manage the programme.
