He was a founder and financial manager of the Organisation of Serbian Students Abroad (OSSI), the first international organisation of students from Serbia numbering several thousand members at the time. Following the October 2000 democratic changes in Serbia he was appointed advisor to the Federal Minister of Telecommunications and from June 2003 he was advisor to the Serbia-Montenegrin Minister of Defence. From July 2004 he was advisor for international relations and head of the Serbian President's team. In February 2004 he was appointed president of the Democratic Party's International Relations Board and in February 2006 became member of the party's Executive Board.
