Education: Walter Raizner studied economics and business information technology at the University of Nuremberg-Erlangen, graduating in 1983.
CV: Raizner initially worked for Nixdorf, before joining IBM Deutschland in 1984. After holding a number of positions in sales, marketing and management, he became assistant to the Head of Sales of IBM Deutschland in 1989. In 1991, Raizner became head of the newly created IBM Deutschland Direct Marketing organization and then Head of Sales for Production in Southern Germany. In 1995, he worked in the support office of the Senior Vice President and Group Executive for Sales, Ned Lautenbach, in the U.S. In 1996, Raizner became General Manager of IBM's storage business in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). From November 1997 to December 1998, he was General Manager of the Public Sector for EMEA, responsible for Sales and Marketing in the Public Sector, based in London. At Corporate Headquarters in the U.S. he was then Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for the IBM Technology Group, with overall responsibility for Marketing, Business Line Management for OEM Sales, Business Operations and Strategy. In December 1999, Walter Raizner joined the Storage Systems Group where he was General Manager of the Storage Products Division in Somers, Connecticut, responsible for IBM's worldwide storage business. In January 2003, he was appointed CEO of IBM Deutschland GmbH and IBM Central Holding GmbH. As of November 1, 2004, Walter Raizner is responsible for the newly created Strategic Business Area Broadband/Fixed-Network within the Group Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG. Raizner is also Chairman of the T-Com Board of Management.
