Quotes

Ryan penned an op-ed for Rabble.ca where he talks about how they executed their strategy in Ontario to "drive down the number of union members who vote Conservative." (The OFL predicts that 30 per cent of their membership has, in the past, voted for the PCs.)
...it acceptable to be accumulating annual surpluses in the EI account, when 63% of unemployed workers aren't receiving any benefits?" asks Yussuff, "EI is an important component of our social safety net that is being torn to shreds by this government."
"Their position is they want to belong to a union that has complete, blind loyalty to the party and I understand that ... But the facts are that one local union within Unifor is not going to dictate the politics of an organization of over 300,000 people."
Yussuff went on to say, "The government's proposed plans don't 'share risk', they shift it onto the backs of workers and pensioners. This will do absolutely nothing to address the crisis in retirement security, and will actually make the problem worse. Picture 75-year-old pensioners relying on monthly pension cheques having to cut their food budget and turn down the thermostat, all because their pension plan has a temporary funding shortfall. That's what we're talking about here."
