Quotes

"The great news is that businesses both small and large are benefiting from the surge in cruising," said Carnival Australia CEO Ann Sherry. "It is extremely satisfying to know that beyond the positive economic data are real people; tour operators, cafe and restaurant owners and taxi drivers, all are benefiting from cruise industry growth."
...According to Christina Baez, a spokesperson for Norwegian, "We believed that lowering the price point would make that top-notch experience (Ocean Blue) available for more of our guests." The cover charges for other specialty dining venues such as Cagney's and Le Bistro have remained the same
In a statement, Regent said the Dakar call was canceled as cautionary measure. "We always place the safety and comfort of our guests as our top priority and adjusted the itinerary to alleviate any concerns" the line said. A thread with concerns about Ebola has been active on Cruise Critic's Regent Seven Seas forum since February
...Those who cruise by themselves often are forced to pay nearly double the per-person rate non-solos pay. (Cruise lines call this fee the "single supplement.) NCL's newest ships in particular have bucked that trend, adding funky solo cabins and solo lounges for those cruising alone. Quantum of the Seas has 28 solo cabins, which are fairly large (119 square feet) compared with other solo cabins. We love the inclusion of a standard-size bathroom and roomy balcony (12 have this feature), which is not typical when it comes to single-cabin options."
