He further said, "Omitting onions from the Essential Commodities Act is really a good decision. Not just onions, but all agricultural commodities should be omitted from the APMC Act. Farmers should be allowed to sell their agricultural commodities in the openopen market. We are also creating awareness on the issue among farmers."
The court said: "Depending on the result of the inquiry, the competent authority should take appropriate action against the officers in accordance with the law as expeditiously as possible (preferably within two months of receiving the inquiry report.)"
He added, "Most construction labourers are found consuming gutka. Hence, we have decided to focus on construction sites with an aim to prevent them from having gutka and scented pan masala. Moreover, we are planning to create awareness among school students in the division. Various awareness programmers will be organised for students to make them aware of the harmful effects of gutka consumption. Apart from this, token bonfires of gutka are to be done and morning processions of students against the gutka are also to be taken out in the divisions."
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said, "We believe that the local police has been lax in this case. They have allowed the cheater to get away. We suspect that this big a scam cannot happen unless there is political involvement or backing given by some politicians. There should be a highlevel inquiry into this case."
