Comments: Central Bank of India (the Bank) is a public sector banking institution with branches in 27 States and in three Union Territories in India. As at March 31, 2007, the Bank had 3,194 branches, 267 extension counters, 261 automated teller machines, 34 satellite offices, 17 zonal offices and 78 regional offices. The Banks main business is taking deposits, lending money and making investments. Its deposit taking and lending business is divided into three main areas: retail, which provides loans and advances for housing, retail trade, automobiles, consumer durables, education and other personal loans and deposit services, such as current, savings and fixed deposits for its customers; agriculture, which offers direct financing to farmers for production and investment, as well as indirect financing for infrastructure development and credit to suppliers of agricultural inputs, and corporate, which provides commercial banking products and services to corporate and commercial customers.
