Comments: Companhia Paranaense de Energia-COPEL (Copel) is an electric power company engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the Brazilian State of Parana, pursuant to concessions granted by the Brazilian regulatory agency for the electric sector, Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica-ANEEL. It also provides telecommunications and information technology services and other services through various partnerships. As of December 31, 2006, it generated electricity at 17 hydroelectric plants and one thermoelectric plant, with a total installed capacity of 4,549.6 megawatts. As of December 31, 2006, it owned and operated 7,210 kilometers of transmission lines and 165,757 kilometers of distribution lines in Brazil. Copel is composed of five wholly owned subsidiaries: Copel Geracao, Copel Transmissao, Copel Distribuicao, Copel Telecomunicacaes and Copel Participacaes. In November 2007, Copel acquired a 30% stake in Domino Holdings S.A., from Sanedo Participacoes Ltda.
