Quotes

Johnson said: "Maintaining London's trees and greenery is essential to preserve our status as the world's best big city to live, work and do business in. That is why I am funding programmes to plant thousands of new trees across the capital."
Councillor Bhatia said: "Lessons should have been learned from the last time when the road was closed in November following an accident. I sought assurances then as was promised better plans were in place, but it is quite clear that the plans were ineffective. As soon as large trucks or buses are allowed on to the back road it leads to immediate chaos. We were lucky there were no emergencies, if there had been there was no way of getting through. We need to have a traffic diversion pack, complete with signs based at the Eshiels depot."
Mairi Bell, tourism manager for Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park said: "These upgrades will enhance what is already a spectacular experience."
"I hope that this hard-hitting garden really gets our vital message across to gardeners and businesses alike. Whether you’re a company importing plants on a commercial basis or someone bringing back a cutting from abroad, a pest can travel as an unwelcome stowaway and have a potentially devastating effect. Sponsors of the “Stop the Spread” show garden include Defra, Forestry Commission, National Trust, Welsh Government, Scottish Government, Woodland Trust, Horticultural Trades Association and Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation."
