...She struck out four and didn't walk anybody. When Galesburg got any kind of threat going, she worked out of it. "She isn't a hard thrower but she throws a heavy ball along with a great drop ball" said Morrison. Schaley is now 12-1 on the season as the Heat season winds down heading into next week's regional
...or so and I was in Wisconsin," said Galesburg High School athletic director Ralph Henning, who has been the Silver Streaks AD the past eight years. "It was really bad. Over half our games had to be rescheduled. This spring has been the most challenging and I've been an athletic director for 16 years. It's been the roughest spring we've had since I've been here no question about that. "Frankly, it's a miracle how well our coaches and kids have adapted," he added. "You just can't get consistency." "In the spring of 2010 it was similar, but I don't think I can say it was as bad," said Monmouth-Roseville AD Chuck Grant, who has been at his post for four years. "I don't know if it has been as bad. We get in what we can. You look in the sky and there is nothing you can do about it. When you get seven or eight inches in 24 hours there is nothing you can do about it." "I can't remember it being like this," said West Central baseball coach and athletic director Roger Kerfoot. "It's been moist, cold and we've been unable to play a lot of our games. We've been able to practice on our baseball field three times. I coached in Texas for six years, so we didn't experience the same type of weather. I've been in Illinois the last 13 years and I haven't seen it like this. It's hard on a AD, I will tell you that." Mother Nature has wreaked hovoc with schedules as cancellations and reschedules have occurred almost every week for Galesburg-area baseball, softball and track and field teams this spring, which have left area athletic directors scrambling to reschedule as many games as they can before the postseason begins. "Baseball and softball it's probably been a dozen games we've had to reschedule. For track, you kind of lose out ? very few things get rescheduled," Henning said. "When we're done we will probably have done 20 to 30 cancellations and reschedules in various sports. The schedules we published at the beginning of the season are not what we are playing, that's for sure. We've had a bunch more cancellations than I want to care about. It gets really tight and sometimes you can't get it done. You are looking at ridiculous schedules."
...He certainly didn't have his best stuff but he gave it his all," Gonzalez said about Cheesman. "I've said it before and I'll say it again, Carson is always positive ? never complaining." While the Pioneers got on the board early, leading 5-0 after four innings, Cody Sedlock carried a no hitter into the sixth...
..."My brother (Jared) goes to school there so I know a lot about the school," said Carl of his college choice. "It's the Christian atmosphere and the way the way cirriculum is built around it. "I'll be able to play basketball and study engineering." Carl averaged 3.0 points and 2.8 rebounds for the Streaks and also shot 35.7 percent from 3-point range."
