Bill Kramer campaign pays legislator's lawyer $10,000: "The campaign of embattled state Rep. Bill Kramer has paid $10,000 to defend him against sexual assault charges, raising questions about whether the payments violate state campaign law. Kramer, a Waukesha Republican and former No. 2 lawmaker in the Assembly, was charged in March with two felony charges of second-degree sexual assault stemming from an incident three years ago. Attorney James Gatzke, who initially responded to media on Kramer's behalf in that case, received two $5,000 payments from Kramer's campaign fund, one in March and the other in June, according to a filing made with state elections officials. The filing by Kramer's campaign labeled the payments as 'legal fees - compliance/administrative.' According to charges filed in March, in a 2011 incident in Muskego, Kramer shoved a female friend against a car, kissed her forcibly and put his hands up her shirt while she told him no and tried to stop him. Later inside a car, Kramer locked the vehicle's doors, kissed the woman again, grabbed her groin and tried to look down her shirt. He pleaded not guilty to the sexual assault charges in May in Waukesha County Circuit Court." Read more
