Quotes

Speaking after delivering the invitation, Westley Ingram, also a member of the group, said:   "The Church has often spoken of peace on earth, care for creation and solidarity with the poor but has just as often been slow to put its money where its mouth is. It is the poor abroad and at home who will suffer most if we do not respond creatively, courageously and faithfully to the looming climate catastrophe. We know that we need to leave 80% of the world’s fossil fuel reserves in the ground to be in with a chance of stopping the global temperature rise of 2°C. That means we need to stop financing the extraction of fossil fuels now."
Rev Dr Graffy said of his appointment: "It's an honour to be nominated by Pope Francis as a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission. I feel privileged and very much look forward to being of service.”"
... But Chaldean priest Paolo Thabit Mekko, who was also a refugee in Ankawa after escaping from Mosul, said: "So far,  nothing has been done. The only concrete initiatives come from international organizations and especially from the Church, which is launching a program to rent homes and buy containers that can provide a less precarious shelter compared to tents"
...Yet the divine Master told them: "Do not rejoice because the demons are subject to you; but rejoice because your names are written in heaven. At that very moment Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said: ‘I give you praise, Father...’ And, turning to the disciples in private he said, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see’" (Lk 10:20-21, 23)
