Quotes

"We are delighted to see that a large number of events are catering for people of all ages, therefore providing children with an ideal opportunity to enjoy the end of their summer holidays before returning to school at the end of the month. Furthermore, many events organised are free of charge and National Heritage sites also offer concession rates during the week itself" Ms. McGuire added
...Ms. McCarhy continued: "We are inviting former island inhabitants and anyone with a connection with Scattery or indeed, its rich history to join us this weekend. Last year's inaugural festival, held as part of the Gathering Ireland initiative, proved to be a huge success with more than 5,000 people travelling to the island. This has helped to raise the profile of what has for many years been one of Ireland’s least known monastic settlements."
...Pat Rabbitte T D , has today welcomed the award of EU NER300 funding to the ESB's Westwave project, saying, "Ireland's position at the Atlantic edge of the EU provides us with an almost unparalleled ocean energy resource. As identified in the Offshore Renewable Energy Development Plan, which I published earlier this year, the ocean energyenergy sector holds real potential for growth in the green economy and jobs in our coastal communities, both here in Ireland and along the western seaboard of the EU. It is now critical that the sector moves ahead with device deployment. I am very pleased to see the ESB taking a lead role in rising to the international challenge of bringing wave energy technology to commercial maturity."
