That being said, "[a] protracted strike should there fore have a meaningfully positive impact on uranium prices if Cameco chooses to immediately buy material in the spot market to meet contractual obligations (or buys on the spot later on to replenish down-drawn inventory levels), especially given currently depressed spot price of US$31.50/lb."
In a Friday statement, Cameco indicated it has sufficient inventory of uranium to meet customer orders for this year despite the disruption. "The work stoppage is not expected to affect the company's 2014 uranium delivery commitments to customers" Cameco said
A United Grain spokesperson did not reveal the details of the agreement, but said "it is a relief to be able to get the grain moving at this time of the year." The ILWU had been locked out of the Port of Vancouver, and the inspectors said they considered it unsafe to cross the picket line to do their work...
