"I’m occupying a vantage point that allows me to see what is going on inside the top Fortune 50 companies. I have never seen such rot before. Of the 50, at least 30 have debt at 120% of cash. Most have cut capex, R&D and maintenance by 80%. Most have been borrowing money to do stock buy-backs, while simultaneously selling off business units and doing layoffs."
"Compuware is the clear established leader in the categories of application performance and mainframe productivity tools, and this transaction is the capstone to a series of transformative company initiatives to relentlessly drive value" Compuware CEO Bob Paul said in a statement
"But the nickel price has recovered and that makes any kind of restructuring much harder to achieve. It becomes very difficult to persuade the government and a highly unionised workforce that restructuring is needed when you have cash-positive operations."
