...System (AMHS) by EBDG's predecessor firm, so we're intimately familiar with the vessel and its systems," said EBDG Project Manager Matt Williamson. "The main engines were at the end of their useful life and the AMHS opted for replacing them, along with replacing or upgrading drive train components and auxiliary systems where it made economic sense. Replacing the main engines is a significant undertaking in the life a vessel. EBDG's strong familiarity with the Columbia made us the natural choice as the designer for this repowering project."
"Although this type of BWTS has not been considered in prior determinations, upon review by the NAD, we concur with the analogy to the mounting and outfitting of LNG tanks, which have been the subject of prior determinations. As with the LNG tanks, the BWTS units will be structurally separate and independent from the hull and primary hull stresses will not be transmitted to the units. Consequently, we also concur that these units need not be considered in the calculation of the weight of foreign-fabricated components."
"Our Emsys system has been deployed on around 20 scrubber projects so far," says Mr. Brown, "but our philosophy has never been to sell products rather than sell solutions. So when the users give feedback on their requirements after gaining experience in this developing market, our team comes up with innovative ideas backed by sound engineering. The Emsys-iS is only 800 mm x 600 mm x 300 mm so fits right on the stack. We provide both a real-time output to control the scrubber operation and approved data records for ECA compliance. I am really looking forward to SMM as I am convinced the Emsys-iS meets the industry's needs for specification, simplicity, and value."
John Knudsen, Rolls-Royce, President Commercial Marine, said: "We are pleased to be selected by Detroit Chile to supply this new and highly innovative PSV crane. A ship configuration with two cranes provides safe and highly efficient load handling and these offshore vessels will have the advantage of loading and unloading the deck using their own equipment."
