He declared: "We want you to believe in God, that He can conquer any challenges, that is the most significant aspect of our crusade... to remind the people that no matter how bad it may be for individuals, state and nation, God can still turn things around and can move things forward." "It's an unmet need because we see so many families distraught and they just don't know what to do or how to help their children. And they tend to hurt them, instead of helping them" said Shannon Burke, Certified Addiction Counselor
Upon arrival at the convention I was greeted by a conservative insider who said, "This is the conference when they finally come to terms with the fact that they’re going to lose It’s hard to judge whether or not that’s true because it’s tough to find impartial and honest voices. I’m not convinced that conferences are as devoid of ordinary party members as their detractors suggest – I’ve met quite aa few and personally liked every one of them (clean, smart types these freedom-loving Tories). What is true, however, is that the disgruntled tend to stay atat home and those who do show up are funded by think tanks or are hoping to build a bright blue future in Tory politics – so meeting the classic "Norm and Dorm from Margate" is very hard to do. The result is a sea of suits and nice haircuts – a kind of American Psycho goes to TM Lewin (the Bow Group, that venerable liberal institution, thinks it has all become so corporate that it hasn’t even bothered to show up this year). One gravitates by instinct towards the people wearing blazers and smoking Marlboro Reds, or to the always heartening sight of someone in a mobility scooter with a Union Jack attached. And it’s in those frank conversations that you find the real gems of opinion."
At the same time, "I have [. . .] shared with priests, religious and lay leaders, my ten-year plan for the renewal of the Archdiocese through the building of a vibrant, evangelistic and missionary Church."
