Later that day, Mount Si's Jazz Band 1 participated in the 2013 Bellevue College Jazz Festival, which is "known as the most difficult festival on the West Coast" according to Rupert. With a preliminary performance in the top three, the band was again a finalist, along with Garfield and Roosevelt High Schools
"I have been rowing for nearly five years now, and it has taught me how to budget my time and how to work with others," McLauchlin said. "Rowing has made me strong physically and mentally and I know, having rowed in the climate of the Northwest, that I am prepared for anything."
