...with just five minutes of charging, which is on par with the time needed to pump petrol for current cars," said lead researcher Prof Chen Xiaodong. "Equally importantly, we can now drastically cut down the waste generated by disposed batteries."
"Many researchers have attempted to construct light sources with carbon nanotubes as field emitter," said Shimoi, "but nobody has developed an equivalent and simpler lighting device."
"Our visualization should be useful for the development of a more accurate picture of electron propagation through nanotubes in real-world applications, where nanotubes are always subjected to external perturbations that potentially may lead to the creation of these traps" he said
