When Mirror spoke to Sassoon's senior psychiatrist Dr Krishna Kadam, he said, "On an average, we admit over 40 patients daily and see around 200 OPD patients. Since a majority of those admitted are financially challenged, it becomes difficult for them to buy medicines. We conveyed the problem to the hospital's pharmacist, but he is still to respond. Treatment cannot be stopped as that can lead to adverse effects, so we are forced to ask patients to buy drugs from outside."
V G Kulkarni, superintendent of PMC's Water Supply department, said, "The Standing Committee chairman sought permission for installing a meter in his house. Although we have installed the same, it is too early to install such meters in households."
