He adds: "As in reality the capacity would be spread out across these years, the amount possible at the administered strike prices would be between these figures. If competition drives strike prices lower, then the capacity would be higher. So we are looking at perhaps 600-900MW of onshore wind projects supported by CfDs.”"
UK Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey said: "Our plan is powering growth and jobs as we build clean, secure electricity infrastructure for the future."
RenewableUK chief executive Maria McCaffery said: "This poll shows that the public want to tackle our energy security crisis by investing in renewables like wind, wave and tidal power and offsetting the need to import volatile and dirty fossil fuels from insecure parts of the world."
"We welcome this clarification from Imperial College because it acknowledges that it was wrong to suggest that wind turbine fires are a major problem. In particular, it's good to see they've admitted that there were weaknesses in their methodology. These flaws led to one of their researchers stating incorrectly that the number of wind farm fires was ten times higher than the number reported. It's incumbent on all academics to ensure any information they release into the publicpublic domain is robust."
