Fattah Jr., who is not a lawyer, is representing himself. The son of U S Rep. Chaka Fattah, he said yesterday of the judge's order: "The decision speaks for itself. I respect the judge's decision and clearly I agree with the judge's opinion that the case has merit and should proceed to trial."
It also included $100,000 from a NASA grant for a "Math Science & Technology Enrichment Program for members of underrepresented groups" in the city
Back in Oakland, librarian Brian Boies has seen that firsthand. "Teens that would normally go to McDonalds across the street are now coming here for a lunch. And they and their parents can spend their money on something else" he said
