...We cannot further reduce central office and school budgets and continue to function," said Dr. Hite. "These changes to the benefits package are consistent with those agreed to by nearly all other District employees, including principals, blue-collar workers and non-represented employees. We are committed to bargaining with the PFT to reach a new agreement and will continue pushing for a full, fair statewide funding formula."
The International Baccalaureate program anchors the school, whose mission is to "provide a rigorous academic learning environment that fosters lifelong learners who are committed to being knowledgeable, caring and internationally-minded citizens." Hill-Freedman expanded to ninth and tenth grades this school year and expects to have more than 600 students at full enrollment
"Our focus will continue to be on providing tools that enhance instructional quality," said Dr. William R Hite, Superintendent. "Although there are several re-based interventions in place to assist struggling learners, we want all students to have a deeper understanding of academic concepts. This requires additional investments in our schools despite our ongoing budgetary challenges. We remain proud of our teachers and school leaders for their continued hard work under difficult circumstances."
...In response to the filings, district spokesman Fernando Gallard said, "We are in agreement that our differences should be resolved through negotiations. We have said so many times publicly while waiting the three-and-a-half months since July 1 for a meaningful counter proposal from the PFT."
