He explained further, "The 450th offices and the city began negotiations with the Nao Victoria Foundation, Seville, Spain, the beginning of 2012 to bring the El Galeon to St. Augustine. After exploring several strategies, it became clear that the 450th didn’t have the $2 - $3 million to host the vessel, so we created a business plan that would see the ship used as a marketing tool for Florida during the 500th, eventually bringing the ship back to St. Augustine."
