Quotes

Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Isfahan University of Technology, "The biological role of A1AT in tissues such as the mammary gland and results from previous quantitative trait loci (QTL) studies have provoked an investigation of A1AT as a candidate gene influencing milk production traits. The present study assessed the association of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at position 5504 of the A1AT gene with 305-day milk yield, milk fat and protein percentage and somatic cell score (SCS) in 408 Iranian Holstein cows. The polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique was used for genotyping. The effect of the genotype on the traits of interest was analysed using the general linear models (GLM) procedure of SAS software. The frequencies of alleles A and B were 0.633 and 0.367, respectively, and genotypes showed a significant deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, which can be a result of selection for milk production traits. Results of association analysis showed a significant relationship between the SNP in the A1AT gene, and fat and protein percentage. Cows of genotype AB had higher milk fat percentage than those of genotype AA. Cows with genotype AA showed a lower milk protein percentage than those carrying genotype AB."
"From a medical point of view, our study also shows that there is no way we can eliminate making mistakes. They will always happen; they've been happening over 560 million years during evolution, and will go on. Medicine and cell biology and biochemistry must work very hard to improve our ability to eradicate cancer, but any animal on earth can develop cancer. It's an intrinsic property in complex biochemical machinery, and it is something we can never prevent" Dr. Bosch explained
Mr. Weibing Lu, Chairman and CEO of Skystar, commented, "Skystar's dairy cow probiotic is expected to launch at the end of the fiscal year and is a welcome addition to Skystar's Western medicine-based line of animal husbandry products. Currently, the demand for milk outpaces domestic supply in China and as a result consumers are buying imported dairy products such as powdered milk to meet the shortfall. We believe that Skystar's new probiotic will help improve both production and quality. This new probiotic will help increase production for China's dairy producers. We expect to see revenue contribution by the first half of fiscal 2015 and full production goals by 2017."
The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from Yale University, "In the ovary, the oocyte and neighboring somatic cells of the follicle work inin unison to achieve successful metabolism of carbohydrates, amino acids, and lipids. …"
