Ken Glendinning, Head of Area, explained: "Part of our role is to unlock public land to free it up where we can for new housing. This site is a really good example of where Government land can be used to enable the private sector to get on and build homes, simply by working in partnership and taking a longer term view on costs and values."
"We've had two good years of outperformance from this sector and I think now there are several things on the horizon along with the recent sell-off that has given people cause to rethink" he says
"Even allowing for a one year delay in final planning approval, this is new information shows the site will be completed 4 to 5 years later than was stated. They won the appeal with the 5 year housing supply argument, but now it seems it doesn't count."
Previously the site was used for agriculture, but Taylor Wimpey claims: "The proposed development represents part of an important government backed strategy to provide much needed affordable housing into rural areas as part of a wider attempt to address the chronic shortfall of available affordable housing."
