...they are on the track they are given a lot of protein and a lot of calories, a lot of grain which makes them a little high strung," Wicks said. "We feel it's our responsibility to take care of him and make sure that he doesn't go back to the track, because he doesn't really owe anyone anything."
This is the Taylors' first foray into retail bonds, but Laura is confident. She says: "This is a really attractive offer for people like us who are disappointed with the interest rate available on most savings accounts and who also enjoy horse racing."
...Paul Fisher, group managing director of Jockey Club Racecourses said: "We're absolutely delighted to have beaten our target for The Jockey Club Racecourse Bond, which has raised highly-efficient funds for us to invest back into Britain's second biggest sport through the iconic development we're planning at Cheltenham Racecourse. "We have agreed to extend the deadline for people to get involved because weve received a large number of requests to do so from interested investors and because the pace of applications has shown no sign in slowing. This bond offer has always been about raising significant capital towards the development of Cheltenham racecourse while getting closer to our customers, so it would be a strange decision not to extend for a few more days when we have that option. The Jockey Club, owner of Aintree, Cheltenham and Newmarket racecourses launched the new product at a time when savers are getting the worst returns for many years."
Paul Fisher, group managing director of Jockey Club racecourses, said: "To raise more than £15m and counting in just over three weeks from our first foray into consumer finance makes us incredibly proud."
