Quotes

"When we treat the bacteria with antibiotics alone, nothing happens - the bacteria are not even affected. But when we add both thioridazine and antibiotics, something happens: thioridazine weakens the bacterial cell wall by removing glycine (an amino acid) from the cell wallwall In the absence of glycine, the antibiotics can attack the weakened cell wall and kill staphylococcus bacteria" , explains Janne Kudsk Klitgaard, visiting scholar at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark
"Now that we know how thioridazine works, we can develop drugs that target the resistant bacteria. And just as important: We can remove or inactivate the parts of thioridazine, which treats schizophrenia, so we end up with a brand new product that is no longer an antipsychotic, "explains Janne Kudsk Klitgaard."
"The pooled analyses represent an important body of evidence supporting MYRBETRIQ as a potential treatment option for OAB symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency and urinary frequency" said Shontelle Dodson, PharmD, Senior Director, Astellas Scientific and Medical Affairs
...Transit was delayed in ten of these eleven subjects. The authors observed: "when there was delayed esophageal transit of tablets, the initial absorption of acetaminophen (measured as AUC over the first 60 min) was lower than that after normal esophageal transit of tablets. The peak plasma acetaminophen concentration was also lower and occurred 90 min later when transit was delayed. These kinetic changes decrease the effectiveness of acetaminophen as an analgesic."
