Quotes

"A key strategic challenge has arisen for airlines flying over troubled regions. Thursday's surface to air missile attack, though rare, has the possibility of getting repeated by extremist elements" said Kapil Kaul, Chief Executive Officer, South Asia, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA)
"Sports tourism is witnessing impactful growth with Indian tourists structuring their travel around global sporting events like the football and cricket World Cup, Olympics and Commonwealth Games. We started receiving inquiries for travel to Glasgow [the host city] for the 2014 Commonwealth Games from the last quarter of 2013" says Shibani Phadkar, senior vice president - products and operations, leisure travel (outbound), Thomas Cook India. …
"Last years we invested in the CRM software. We have over 200 branches across India along with hundreds of partners and resellers, which are engaged in online as well offline bookings of air-tickets, hotels and tours."
Tapan Mitra, chief human resources, Apollo Tyres Ltd, tells us about some other factors that can come into play in such situations, "While people often assume that the differences between the foreign bosses and their Indian reportees or vice versa due to time zone and cultural issues chiefly create problems, our experience says that such issues arise due to the lack of organising and planning skills from both sides. Other factors may be the lack of adherence to timelines, and not discussing things upfront. The virtual meetings or calls should be planned with everyone's consent, much in advance, keeping in mind the local holidays and difference in time zones. Having said that, the bosses and their juniors should be willing to accommodate each other's call/virtual meeting requests, even after working hours, using multiple communication tools."
