Ross Berridge, Property Dispute Resolution Partner at Thomas Eggar LLP, explained what this legal landmark means for retailers and landlords: "The lesson to be learned from the case could be that the Court may be willing to imply terms into a lease that rent should be repaid following a break. However, the more important lesson is that it is not in the landlord’s or the tenant’s interest to leave the question open for debate. Well drafted modern leases deal expressly with the issue. It is never a happy position to be in to be relying upon implied terms.”"
Ros Ashby, managing partner of Pritchard Englefield, said the firm had been looking for opportunities to grow for a number of years. "We strongly believe this merger is the best way to enable us to deliver an even better offering to our UK and international clients" she said
Ross Berridge, property dispute resolution partner at Thomas Eggar LLP, explain what this legal landmark means for retailers and landlords: "The court was effectively in agreement with tenants who have long found it difficult to understand why they should be paying rent for periods when they are no longer in occupation."
Bob Gogel, CEO, Integreon said, "In a rapidly evolving legal landscape, law firms need bespoke and flexible support in library and information services. As a reliable alternative to traditional in-house library services, Integreon's specialised knowledge in this area helps meet this need and at the same time frees lawyers and legal professionals from administrative burdens. We are happy to partner with Kennedys, which is a well-respected and innovative firm with deep expertise and a rapidly-growing international network."
