"For example, year after year, the authorities went to pay homage to the neighbors for gas or persuade it to open the highway, the road for our citizens, then the railroad for our goods. And in return, again and again there were seemingly minor concessions that eventually led to the stalemate in the border areas. But during these two decades one could have long to build power lines and substations, bypass roads, even get away from gas dependence, - admitted Atambaev. - Why have conflicts on borders increased exactly this year? Why exactly this year we don't have gas? Because those, who did it, understand that in a year or two we will be completely independent of them in energy and transport."
According to him, over the past day Tajikistan has exported 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of energy. The cost per kilowatt-hour is set at 2 cents. "Initially, our neighbors set the price of 3 cents per kilowatt-hour. But we managed to negotiate" he said and added that the import of electricity from Tajikistan still doesn't cover a deficit of 1.6 million kilowatt-hours
He added that the repair campaign is ahead of the approved plan. "We are working on compliance with the limits of consumption, but still there are some problems" he explained
Sagynbayeva is especially concerned about the situation in and around Osh. "The winter will be very difficult, extremely difficult. And it will be easy [to organize protests]" she said
