"Australian varsities are entering into tie-ups with universities across the globe. Only five Indian varsities have been identified to sign MoUs with as many Australian universities. CU apart, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, University of Hyderabad and Mysore University were selected by the Indian government and UGC for the Connect India programme, which the Centre will launch to bring foreign students to study in the country. By selecting CU, the centre has recognized the university's excellence" said VC Suranjan Das
"Students' unions should not resort to gheraoes or any other form of indiscipline. They should try to sort out the issues at college level by discussing and negotiating with authorities. If the talks fail, the university will intervene and solve the issues. We will shortly launch a separate segment on the varsity's website for the purpose" said vice-chancellor Suranjan Das
Education minister Partha Chatterjee said the survey didn't reflect the truth. "I don't think our institutes are perceived poorly elsewhere or that they are inferior in any way. But yes, the education has suffered for 34 years under the Left rule. How can we change things dramatically in just three years?" asked Chatterjee
