Quotes

"We just finished a producer’s camp with the Northern Lights Charter School in Grand Rapids," Jamie said. "Our idea is that if we get a motivated group and advisor/teacher, they can start their own radio club. We are learning as we go, but the important thing that we want to do is give young adults their own voice."
"He was like, 'You've got two years, son. You've got two years, and then you're going to have to get a real job,'" he says. "About a year and a half later I started doing the cover thing and my whole world changed. I was able to move outout to LA. Support myself. Buy a car. Buy a house. That kind of thing."
...She says she doesn't actually get around to making too many comics of her own. "I find the Facebook interface a bit confusing," she explained. "But I love the idea of the avatar — another way of seeing yourself (i e., brown people) reflected in art and lit. I'm planning on using it with my nieces and nephews as a way for them to create comic strips with characters that look like them, an empowering form of storytelling."
